The World Cup might be over but domestic campaigns are beginning with training camps and international tours, while FIFA have released their latest world rankings. Hopefully this bevy of information will keep you busy!
FIFA World Rankings
Biggest surprises for me is that Greece remain at 12, while France have dropped to 27, and unfortunately for my Canadian readers they are at 100, dropping 37 spots, wow!
Europe
Fernando Torres has ruptured a muscle in his left thigh, a result of not properly warming up during the Final.
Ashley Cole is on the verge of a £30m deal to move to Real Madrid, according to Spainish goalkeeper Iker Casillas. I love these types of rumors but really is Real Madrid going to overpay for another English player, like Becks or Macca.
Papa Bouba Diop has completed his move from Portsmouth to AEK Athens for an undisclosed fee after signing a two-year deal with the Greek side.
North America
The New York Red Bulls have signed Thierry Henry to be their second DP player, behind Juan Pablo Angel. This is a significant move for MLS and football in North America. The key though is if Henry will be motivated to play in the MLS or did he come over for the cash grab.
World Cup Video(s) Of The Week
Here is a reenactment of the World Cup Final in Lego between Spain and the Netherlands.
Here are a couple videos of all the highlights of the World Cup and closing montages from ABC, BBC and ITV.
awesome... nice man :) henry is going to be huge! :)
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't Germany 3rd in the Fifa rankings?
ReplyDeleteThe FIFA rankings are a complete joke and usually take the previous 4-5 years in their rankings. Germany are ranked below Brazil, because Brazil has the Copa America victory coupled with the Confederations Cup! However, if Germany does better than Brazil in the upcoming Euro v. Copa America than Germany should jump ahead of Brazil.
