New Canadian Soccer Jersey

Canada hasn't qualified for a World Cup since Mexico '86 but that does not mean that they should fall behind in the trend of releasing a new jersey every two to four years. Well here is Umbro's latest reincarnation of the Maple Leaf Jersey. Canada will wear the new jersey in a friendly against Greece on February 9th. In what should be an explosion of cultural roots, I will be live blogging the match as well. Anyways here are the pictures of the jersey, as always, after the jump.

  1. HATE TO SAY THIS BECAUSE I AM THE PROUDEST CANADIAN YOU WILL EVER WANT TO MEET, BUT THIS KIT LOOKS JUST AS AWFUL AS OUR MEN'S NATIONAL SIDE. 'HIDEOUS' IS RIGHT.

  2. Does UMBRO even sponsor any accomplished national teams anymore other than England? Which may I say is cursed since 66'. The ball never crossed the line. From your lil bro.

  3. I didn't like it at first, but it's growing on me as the days go by.

At least its unique and doesn't borrow a look that any other national team uses. I think future iterations of this jersey could be better but its a good place to start as a base for a truly unique national team jersey.

  4. This looks like a little kids team with a low budget. I get that they were going for simple and classic but it looks like they put almost no thought into it. The American jersey is plain but at least it has a little something going on around the collar and sleeves. Even if they just added some stripes on the socks to continue the look it would help a lot.

I wish they would let the public at least contribute design ideas (whether they are used or not) if this is the best they can come up with.

    Proud Canadian.

  5. Only saw this recently. So What the Canadian National Team did was take old ManU kits and put the Canada logo on them. Umbro is owned by Nike who makes United kits as well right? The jersey also reminds me of the Trinidad and Tobago flag.

  8. I agree with the commenters. These jerseys look like more work should have been put into designing them. I prefer AFL jerseys, and not because Aussie footy is superior.
