Sex Sells . . . . Even In The MLS

The Vancouver Whitecaps are less than two weeks away from kicking off their inaugural season in the MLS. Their first match is against their Canadian rival, Toronto FC, and the anticipation has been building for several months for the latest reincarnation of the Caps to take the field.

The Whitecaps have been hosting various contests throughout Vancouver in order for supporters to grab the last remaining single-game tickets that are remaining for the home opener against Toronto FC. The latest one asks for the public to tweet a picture of the larger than life model found below. The picture, according to the team, is somewhere in the downtown core of Vancouver. So hide your children, hide your wife as there is a Victoria Secret styled poster somewhere near GM Place.

Now, I am not too sure if you can see it clearly but the model is 'wearing' a Vancouver jersey that has been body painted on her, and with some clever positioning has managed to cover her lady parts with the help of a scarf. And for all the MBA graduates who follow this blog, that is what we call in the business as 'product placement.' What are your thoughts on the campaign, the model and the general use of body paint?
