FIBA World Basketball Championships - Semifinal Preview

Here we are down to four teams, so let's jump right into it with the PBP breakdown of each semi-final match-up.

United States - Lithuania
So the Americans received a scare during their match against Russia, but picked up the intensity and the defensive pressure in the second half to coast to a double digit victory. Lithuania, however, were in complete control against a tired and unmotivated Argentina cruising to a comfortable victory. We must remember that the US has beaten the Lithuanians during their exhibition schedule, but Lithuania did contain the US to 9 first half points. I believe that at the end of the day this tournament is really the Americans to lose especially considering that both Spain and Greece have been knocked out.

Serbia - Turkey
Serbia played absolutely brilliantly against Spain and are in the semifinals due to the massive cajones from Milos Tedosic who knocked out a 'way downtown' three-pointer to win the game. Turkey are in the semifinals because of their fanatical fans and unbelievable home court advantage. At this point of the competition I really am looking forward to a Turkey - United States gold medal match. The key for the Turks is not to slip especially since they have come so close.
