Fearless Predictions - Copa America - Day 17

Third place matches at major international tournaments are honestly, in this hopeless blogger's opinion, a massive waste of time. No one has ever written a poem about the battle for bronze, and definitely no movie ever touches on the glitz and glamour of finishing third. Well here we are, so let's see what Peru and Venezuela can give us for a match.

Peruvian players celebrate after teammate Paolo Guerrero scored against Venezuela during the 2011 Copa America third-place match.

Day 17

Venezuela - Peru

Peru and Venezuela are two of the most unlikely participants in the third place match ever at a Copa America. Think about it for a second, Venezuela's national sport is baseball while Peru are more focused on Inca Cola and  chasing women. I have to be honest, I want Peru to win this match because in all honesty why the hell not. For a country that doesn't have the footballing pedigree of any of its South American neighbors, why not just give them the bronze. Maybe then, someone in Lima can write a beautiful poem on the 2011 Copa America.

Venezuela - Peru (1-2)

9-15
