Fearless Predictions - Women's World Cup - Day 13

Semifinal Wednesday does not quite have a ring to it, does it? Well, it doesn't matter because the semifinals for the Women's World Cup take place tomorrow afternoon and we will be a step closer to crowning a new queen in woman's football. So who do we think is going to win, well here are our fearless predictions.

Semifinals

France - United States

France enter their semifinal with the United States as the underdog, however, their attacking firepower should not be underestimated. With a magical maestro in the midfield in the form of Louisa Necib, also a fan favorite of a certain Egyptian follower, France have the technician who cause the United States difficulties. However, how can you bet against the United States? Their dramatic equalizing goal in the 122nd minute further underlines the mental advantage the US has over many other countries. They simply refuse to give up. This is surely a character trait that my beloved Canadian squad could surely adopt.

Contrasting styles in semi showdown

Japan - Sweden

Sweden are looking to advance to the Women's World Cup final for the second time in the past three tournaments, not bad for a country that many viewed as on the downside of their golden era in women's football. Japan, on the other hand, shocked the world with their stunning victory over Germany in the quarterfinals. I have to be honest I never saw that coming. As for this game between Sweden and Japan, it would be unwise to look beyond Sweden who are the only team who have not lost a game in the entire tournament.

Japan - Sweden (0-2)
