Community Shield 2011 - The Preview

In less than twenty-four hours, it's back baby! That's right the English Premier League is right around the corner with the Community Shield. This year's edition of the shield is a Manchester derby as United take on City in what should be an emotionally charged encounter at Wembley.

Manchester United - Manchester City - The Community Shield

The Community Shield represents the official kick-off to the English domestic campaign. Manchester United, the league champions, battle against Manchester City, the cup winners, Sunday afternoon at iconic Wembley Stadium. Both teams have dived head first into transfer market as United have added Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea while City only added another attacker in the form of Sergio 'Kun' Aguero. (Yes, I know there have been minor deals for both teams, but these are the big names.) Aguero is a ready-made replacement for the headcase that is Carlos Tevez. Honestly, if I made the amount of money that Carlos Tevez has made from the city of Manchester you would think that he could buy a mini-Argentine village to solve his homesickness woes.

Anyways, let's get to the match at hand. United enter the match as a slight favorite, but honestly, it is still the pre-season and we have no idea how both teams will respond to the magnitude of the moment. At the end of the day, we have to remember this is merely a friendly. So let's go with the team that has been here before.
