EPL Round #2 - Fearless Predictions

Friday night and just getting home for the night, there is only one thing left to do. Other than the obvious, all we have left are our fearless predictions for Round #2 of the EPL season. So enjoy this week's edition.

Sunderland - Newcastle (2-0)

No sooner than Round #2 of the EPL season and we have our first big rivalry game as Sunderland play host to Newcastle. After thoroughly impressing against Liverpool, Sunderland should be considered the favorite against Newcastle. I would expect a goal from Gyan, or maybe even two.

Arsenal - Liverpool (2-1)

Liverpool have not won a match at Arsenal in almost 11 years, so one cannot expect them to grab the victory against Arsenal. However, this is a different Arsenal especially after the transfer of their captain Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona. Arsenal are far from a finished product and one can assume that a couple new faces will join the club in the coming weeks, but still history is on their side and they will fight for the three points.

Aston Villa - Blackburn Rovers (2-0)

Blackburn are a complete mess in my opinion and are strong favorites for the drop. Aston Villa drew Fulham in their prior match and even though they did not threaten Fulham's goal, I do expect them to dominate against Blackburn by a couple goals.

Everton - QPR (3-1)

QPR, at first glance, appear to be out out of their element in the Premier League and after being thrashed by Bolton at home 4-0 we should not expect too much in Everton's inaugural match of the season. I am looking forward to seeing Everton this season as they finished last season on a high note, especially considering their struggles in the first half of the campaign.

Swansea City - Wigan (2-1)

Wigan cannot afford to drop points at home against teams like Norwich and QPR if they are going to survive their annual fight against relegation. Swansea, while struggling against Manchester City, should have quite the home opener as this will be the first EPL match to ever take place in Wales. So let's go with Swansea for the win.

Chelsea - West Brom (2-0)

You have to pity West Brom who have started the new season with a home match against Manchester United and then travel to Chelsea for their second match. The new 'Special One' at Chelsea is still enjoying his honeymoon but a victory is a must against West Brom.

Norwich City - Stoke City (1-0)

Norwich did well to grab a point against Wigan in their opening match of the season and should have some confidence for when Stoke comes to visit. Stoke are fresh off their midweek European victory and might be ripe for an upset.

Wolverhampton - Fulham (2-1)

Wolves, to be honest, are one of the favorites of a loyal PBPer, so every time I come across them in the fearless predictions section I also overrate them. However, Fulham, who are also coming off a midweek European adventure, should not be in top gear against a tough Wolves team who are always strong at home.

Bolton - Manchester City (1-2)

The beauty of an early look at the EPL table is that this match is indeed a match-up between the top teams in the league . . . . it's early my friends, very early. Sergio Aguero has made quite the first impression in his first match against Swansea and with him expecting to start from the beginning I do see him grabbing a goal and helping City to another three points.

Manchester United - Tottenham (3-2)

The matches between United and Spurs are always incredibly entertaining while also incredibly one-sided towards the team in red from Manchester. With all the speculation surrounding the future of Modric, Spurs are not ready for a prime-time match against the Red Devils.

OVERALL RECORD
4-5
