Here we go . . . . football is all around us. Serie A along with the German Bundesliga are kicking off this weekend and we are a week away from La Liga and the antics of the Special One and Pep. But like always the world, fortunately or unfortunately, revolves around the EPL. After last week's slow start, six straight incorrect predictions, we rebounded nicely to climb closer to .500. Off to the picks!
After stealing a point at Anfield, Arsenal will open their home campaign with a convincing victory over Blackpool, who currently sit second in the table, which shouldn't last too long though.
Birmingham City - Blackburn Rovers (2-1)
The blues scratched out a draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light via the set-piece and their heading prowess and with Matt Derbyshire joining the squad from Greece, I see a victory for the home team.
Everton - Wolverhampton Wolves (2-0)
Even with their victory over Stoke, Wolves are still a weaker squad, and I see Everton getting the three points this week due to goals from Arteta and Cahill.
Stoke City - Tottenham Hotspur (0-1)
The quick injury to Kenwyne Jones has dashed the attacking prowess of Stoke City and after their scare against Young Boys in Switzerland I see the Spurs riding an early goal for the victory.
West Bromwich Albion - Sunderland (2-2)
Lee Cattermole is banned for three games after his red card against Birmingham City and without their skipper Sunderland will do well to draw against the Baggies.
West Ham United - Bolton Wanderers (1-0)
After a disappointing defeat against Aston Villa, Avram Grant's side will struggle, but eventually scrape a victory against Bolton.
Wigan Athletic - Chelsea (0-2)
Fresh off a destruction of WBA by the score of 6-0, Chelsea will find their first away encounter of the season slightly more difficult but nevertheless they will still manage to grab the three points.
Newcastle United - Aston Villa (3-2)
Newcastle threatened briefly against Manchester United using the height of Andy Carroll as a target man and with the St. James faithful behind them, I see Newcastle picking up the victory in a high scoring affair.
Fulham - Manchester United (0-1)
Paul Scholes was absolutely brilliant as the main orchestrator of the Red Devils attack last week and I see him pulling the strings as Manchester should secure a victory against Fulham who are still trying to find out their own plan of attack under Mark Hughes
Manchester City - Liverpool (1-1)
Both City and 'Pool experienced narrow 1-0 victories in Europa qualifying on Thursday and this Monday match should see a tight and nervy affair that at the end of the day will end in a draw.
OVERALL RECORD:
4-6
nice man :)
