EPL Fearless Predictions - Round #2

It might be only Wednesday but because of Chelsea's European Super Cup commitments we are treated to some midweek football and an early start to the second set of matches from the EPL. I have to admit the opening fixtures of the new season were definitely surprising. Who could imagine Swansea and Fulham both scoring 5 goals against QPR and Norwich respectively? Also, while we all thought it might take some time for Arsenal to gel as a unit, the fact that they could not score a single goal in their opening home fixture was pretty embarrassing. Regardless, another week is upon us, so let's take a look at all the matches. Furthermore, PBP will be light for the next two weeks as I am off on holiday. Don't be too jealous.

James Milner James Milner of Manchester City celebrates scoring his team's third goal, from a penalty kick, during the Barclays Premier League match between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on January 3, 2012 in Manchester, England.

Chelsea - Reading (2-0)
Chelsea will keep it clean and comfortable as they win their second match of the season against newly promoted Reading. Mr. Hazard looks like quite the player thus far.

Swansea - West Ham (3-1)
Swansea travel back to Wales after thoroughly thumping QPR 5-0. Michu, a week in, looks already like the signing of the season. West Ham did well to win their opening match against Villa, but will be in tough against the Swans.

Aston Villa - Everton (1-1)
A short week for Everton after their Monday night match against United sees them travel to Birmingham to take on Aston Villa who lost their opening match to West Ham. Regardless, Villa, under Paul Lambert, played some pretty impressive football and I see them grabbing at least a point.

Manchester United - Fulham (3-0)
Congratulations Fulham! After winning 5-0 to start the season against Norwich, how about a trip to Old Trafford to face a United team that lost to Everton to open the season? Fulham will be in tough as I see goals a plenty for the Red Devils.

Southampton - Wigan (2-1)
Southampton were 15 minutes away from a monumental upset to begin the season. But that is why they play football for 90 minutes instead of 75. Ricky Lambert will reclaim his place in the starting line-up and score the winning goal for the Saints.

Sunderland - Reading (2-0)
Honestly, if I am a supporter of the Black Cats and I am about to spend upwards of 10M on Steven Fletcher I would lose it. Buy foreign and you can buy two players for the price of one British player. Regardless, Sunderland put on quite the defensive performance and could of nicked a goal at the Emirates against Arsenal, so that means they should win comfortably against Reading, right?

Tottenham - West Brom (3-1)
Spurs were close to securing a point against Newcastle a but a rash challenge in the box, gifted the home side a penalty and the three points. The return of Adebayor to White Hart Lane will lead to goals and three points for Spurs against West Brom.

Norwich City - QPR (1-1)
Hey, it is the battle between the teams that both lost their opening matches 5-0, so that could only mean one thing, a dull draw.

Chelsea - Newcastle (2-1)
Chelsea grabs their third win in a row against a tired Newcastle squad who have to travel to Greece midweek for a Europa League match.

Stoke City - Arsenal (1-2)
They say that if you can do it on a cold wet night at Stoke you can do it anywhere in the EPL. Well it shouldn't be cold or wet, so one has to expect Arsenal to grab their first victory of the season.

Liverpool - Manchester City (1-1)
Liverpool are a mess and one has to feel bad for Brendan Rogers and the complete debacle of a football club he has inherited. His squad will play well in their home debut but unfortunately City will at least grab a point or even more.

OVERALL RECORD
4-6
