Fearless Predictions - Women's World Cup - Day 2

After achieving perfection on the first day of the Women's World Cup, there is only way to go from here . . . . and unfortunately that is down. I must say the view from the top was rather lovely. Onto the predictions.

Day 2

Japan - New Zealand

Day 2 at the showcase event for the women's game sees Group B take center stage with a couple of matches. In the early bird special, usually reserved only to the 60 and over crew at Denny's, Japan will be looking for the maximum three points against New Zealand. Even though New Zealand's only point in a FIFA competition was the result of a 2-2 draw against Japan in 2008, the Lady Kiwis are heavy underdogs to one of the strongest teams in Asia. While New Zealand lacks the same level of technique as the Japanese their speed and power could surprise the Lady Samurai, yet at the end of the day it will be comfortable for Japan.

Japan - New Zealand (2-0)

Mexico - England

In the men's game anything that involves Mexico and England usually circles back to the dazzling dribbles of a certain Diego Maradona as it was in 1986 where the Argentine maestro in Mexico broke British hearts. On the women's side however, both teams do not have the history or heart break as their male counterparts. England have been in good form leading up to the World Cup having defeated the United States and Sweden while Mexico have lost to both squads in their buildup. Therefore, it is wise to go with form and as Mexico are missing Renae Cueller I find it hard pressed to pick against the English.

Mexico - England (0-1)

Fearless Predictions
2-0
