The Summer Transfer Period of 2011

During the 2011 summer transfer period 1.6 billion euros were spent on transfer fees by the top five European Leagues . . . these leagues include the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1. Think about that for a second. Football teams spent the equivalent of Liberia's GDP in a mere three months. With all this cash being thrown around Europe, cash that could surely help boost the economies of Portugual, Ireland, Greece and Spain, it is worth looking at which teams were the most active during the transfer period.
